Brief info

Dr. Rahul Agrawal, MBBS, DLO, DNB, is working as Head of ENT and Cochlear Implant Unit, at Agrawal hospital & research Institute, Gwalior, MP, India since 2008.

He completed his post-graduation (DLO) in 2005 with a gold medal, and DNB from Dr B Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, in 2008 in first attempt, where he was awarded “Dr R M Shah Best Resident award” of Dr B Nanavati Hospital for the year 2006-2007. During his residency he had five publications and had presented 12 papers in national and international conferences. During residency itself he was awarded fellowship of “British Academy of ENT’2006, UK. He is the first Indian to receive “International scholarship 2010” by American Academy of ENT. He visited multiple centers in Europe, Singapore and US to hone his skills in advanced ENT surgeries

He is the first doctor to bring CO2 laser surgeries for ENT in Gwalior. Following the footsteps of his father he has then started a regular teaching course in Gwalior, where surgeons from not only our country but abroad (eg, Iraq, Bangladesh, Nepal, Egypt etc) come on a regular basis to learn from him.

In 2009 he did his first cochlear Implant (treatment for deaf and mute child) surgery in Gwalior. He became the youngest ENT surgeon of India and the only independent ENT surgeon of central India to do cochlear implant surgery. Till 2020 he has an experience of more than 300 Cochlear Implant surgeries, both in children and in adults.

He also has keen interest in Sleep apnea treatment with an experience of over 17 years in this field.

  • To further his vision of teaching he has written a book of ear surgery “Temporal bone – A Surgeon’s vision”, published by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publisher’s (P) Ltd, 2012. He has also written several chapters in other books.

Few patients were also financially supported by Hon’ble Chief Minister for cochlear implant surgery which was done free of cost by him.

  • He has been invited at many State and national conferences for lectures and live surgical demonstrations.

  • He is a member of many National & International scientific societies like A.O.I., American Academy of E.N.T. Head & Neck Surgeons and member of Philanthropic organizations like Rotary Club, Jai Maharaj Agrasen Seva Sansthan, etc.
  • He has been giving free services to needy at many places not only in and around Gwalior but also every year in an ENT camp in Rajasthan at Somesar since December’2008, where approximately 60 to 80 patients of ear disease are operated free of cost, annually in December end.
