Simple Dental Care Habits for a Clean and Healthy Smile – Dr. Rohit Agrawal & Dr. Shipra Agrawal

According to Dr. Rohit Agrawal and Dr. Shipra Agrawal, maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile does not require complicated treatments. Small daily habits can make a big difference in keeping teeth and gums healthy for years.

One of the most important habits is brushing twice a day. Doctors recommend brushing once in the morning before breakfast and once at night after dinner. This rule applies to everyone, including children, adults, and elderly people.

However, brushing twice daily alone is not enough. Proper brushing technique is equally important. The toothbrush should be moved in a circular motion across all surfaces of the teeth, including the outer, inner, and upper surfaces. According to the doctors, brushing should be done for at least two to three minutes to clean the teeth properly.

Another very important part of oral hygiene is tongue cleaning. Many patients complain about bad breath even when their teeth appear completely clean. In such cases, the tongue is often the main reason. A yellow coating on the tongue can collect bacteria, which may produce sulfur gases responsible for mouth odor.

Dr. Rohit Agrawal and Dr. Shipra Agrawal explain that cleaning the tongue daily is essential. Nowadays, many toothbrushes come with a tongue cleaner on the back side, which can be used regularly.

The doctors also highlight the importance of choosing the right toothpaste. Toothpaste containing fluoride is generally preferred because fluoride helps strengthen teeth and protect against cavities. At the same time, they advise people not to overload the toothbrush with toothpaste. A small pea-sized amount is usually enough for effective brushing.

They also mention that mouthwash can occasionally be used if someone is unable to brush at night because of a busy schedule or social events. However, regular and unnecessary use of mouthwash should be avoided.

Interestingly, the doctors do not completely restrict sweets or chocolates. According to them, people should enjoy food normally but should develop the habit of rinsing the mouth with water after eating sweets or chocolates. This simple habit helps reduce food particles and sugar remaining on the teeth.

Finally, both doctors strongly recommend visiting a dentist every six months for a routine dental checkup. As they explain, prevention is always better than treatment. Regular dental examinations help detect small problems early before they become serious or painful.

According to Dr. Rohit Agrawal and Dr. Shipra Agrawal, simple daily care and regular dental visits are the key to maintaining lifelong oral health.
